Animal ID: Romeo and JulietQuaker Parakeet

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello! My name is Romeo and my best friend is Juliet. We are a bonded pair of quaker parrots who must be adopted together. When we first came into rescue, Juliet was plucking quite badly and we were both scared and considered a bit aggressive. However, we have blossomed since coming into rescue! We are fabulous eaters and will try just about anything you give us. We currently eat a diet of pellets, fresh vegetables, fruits, and healthy nuts. We especially like it when our foster Mom makes us fresh, delicious treats - our favorite is banana! We also now love to come out of our cage to explore our environment. Like most quakers, we can ... (Read More)still be a little cage defensive, but once away from our cage, we are quite nice and will step up for you. We like to go outside for sunshine and fresh air (supervised and safe in an enclosed area, of course) and we love to chatter back and forth. We even wolf whistle and try really hard to talk! We do get quite upset if we are separated though, so please understand that if you adopt us, that we have to remain together - always. We are really looking forward to finding a family who will provide us lots of love and care for the rest of our days. Maybe that family can be with you? Please come meet us very soon to see! In the meantime, if you would like to send us a gift through our wish list, we would appreciate anything you send our way! Animal ID: GuziEclectus (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Birds

'Hi, hi, hi, hi, up, up, up, up.' Meow, meow, meow.' These are just a few of the phrases I started to say immediately in my foster home. My name is Guzi and I am a 23 year old male eclectus parrot. I got my name because I sometimes make a sound like a horn, sort of like the sounds that geese make. When I came into rescue my beak was very long and my bloodwork showed elevated liver numbers due to many years of an improper diet. After almost a year in rescue, my liver values are becoming more normalized and I am now cleared for adoption, but my beak may continue to require frequent trims. I'm a social fellow and I'm a really soft-spoken ... (Read More)little green man, I don't scream at all and I really like when the cat actually does come when I call him, it's hysterical. I call my foster dad's name a lot and I call the dog over to me before I throw him some food.. I bathe myself every morning before I eat, and I love to eat. I sometimes beg from my foster mom when I see her eating. I follow her food with my eyes. I can't help it. I eat everything. I even eat baby kale leaves when she hands them to me. I eat chop, I eat pellets, I eat it all. I'd be your best friend for a raspberry and I also love almonds! Of course, since I am an elcectus, I need a specialized eclectus diet which includes chop twice a day, tops organic pellets, and other eclectus safe foods, so please make sure you are educated about my species. I like everyone, although I do prefer men, I'll even give them kisses, and I even like kids. Women are eh '|. okay. I really need to be in a home with other birds though, otherwise I become extremely depressed, will stop interacting, and will stop eating, so if you think you may want to adopt me, please make sure you have at least one other bird in the home. I don't need physical contact with other birds, I just need to see them and be in the same room with other birds. I do prefer other male eclectus. I love to watch them and see what they are doing - they fascinate me and sometimes I feel like I have found my long lost brothers when I see them! So it would be a perfect match if you already have one who lives with you, although I am fostered in a place where there is a macaw, and he is OK to be around, too. Let me know if you want to meet me, I'll be around. I'm a postcard eclectus and would love to meet you! Hopefully soon, my special family will find me. In the meantime, if you would like to send me a gift from my wish list, I would really appreciate it. Animal ID: RedRed Lored Amazon (female)

Pet Bird    Age: Senior

Hello! My name is Red and I am a Red Lored Amazon. I am an elderly bird, about 40-50 years old, and my foster Mom says I think of myself as the matriarch of the flock. My story is a bit sad, but it has gotten much happier. I was previously thrown out in the street, but thankfully, a Good Samaritan rescued me after finding me in a dumpster and brought me to Florida Parrot Rescue! I had several medical issues upon coming into rescue. I was very thin, had numerous vitamin deficiencies, and a really bad scissor beak that needed a lot of work in order for me to be able to eat properly. It was also obvious that I had previously suffered from ... (Read More)several infections and drainage in the past around my beak. I also have several fatty tumors on my body. In addition, it was found that I had an untreated broken wing, which has left me unable to fly, as you can see from the funny way my feathers stick out. None of these issues threaten my happiness or well-being though, I am quite the cheerful little girl and ready to find a forever home. I do have some arthritis and because of this I spend most of my time on my brand new play top stand on my cage. I also sleep up here as well, it is just more comfortable for me this way. I LOVE my toys, especially the wicker balls that I play with on the top of my cage. I also like to sing, my foster Mom says that I sound like an opera star, plus I do a wolf whistle. I am also enjoying some great food in my foster home. I love to eat pellets, fresh vegetables, fruits, and healthy nuts. I LOVE blueberries. My beak does still grow funny, so I need to see the vet about every 6 weeks for a beak trim. I really hope that despite my specialized care, there will be someone out there who will love me and want me for the rest of my days. Maybe that will be you? I hope you come meet me very soon, but in the meantime, maybe you would like to send me a gift? You can see my wish list at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1UWGWXXA3S2X9/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o? All gifts are very appreciated! THANK YOU! (Less)

Animal ID: JakeBlue & Gold Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hello! My name is Jake and I am a Blue and Gold Macaw - sometimes I am called Jaky because it is believed I am a female. As you can see, I have a history of plucking and my chest is mostly bare, but since I have been in foster care with other birds and lots of distractions like toys and foraging time, some of my chest feathers have begun to grow back. I am comfortable being around other parrots and other species of animals, just remember that I can be fragile and need to be kept safe by you. I mostly enjoy human interaction though - I love one-on-one human attention! My foster Mom says that I am a great eater and I love to have a little of ... (Read More)what you are having (just remember that it needs to be parrot safe and healthy!). I also enjoy my diet of healthy pellets, chop, fresh vegetables and fruits, and healthy nuts. My foster Mom says that I am pretty quiet and easy to handle - but I am still a macaw so that doesn't mean I can' be vocal from time to time. I really hope that you will come and meet me soon to see if I can become part of your family. In the meantime, if you would like to send me a gift from my wish list, you can see that list at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/3QXT30TU8XLFE/ref=cm_wl_list_o_72? Animal ID: DiegoCatalina Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Birds

Hello! My name is Diego and I am a strikingly beautiful Catalina Macaw, which is a hybrid of a Blue and Gold Macaw and a Scarlet Macaw. I am in perfect feather and my foster mom says I am just gorgeous! I have to agree with her! I enjoy human affection, but I do not care for other parrots. I have been around cats before and I actually have this weird thing for them - but please remember that even though I seem to want to be near them, that parrots should never be allowed to interact with cats or dogs, ever! If I am out of my cage - other species of animals should be in another room. You are the human and must keep me safe, so please keep ... (Read More)that in mind! I am a very good eater and like most parrots, I am very interested in whatever it is that you are eating! I am currently fed a diet of pellets, chop, fresh vegetables and fruits, and healthy nuts as treats. I do get a bite of healthy foods that my foster Mom may be eating though, and that makes me very happy! I also enjoy a good shower! My foster Mom says that for a Macaw, I am actually fairly quiet - but that doesn't mean I can't have my moments! I hope that you will come and meet me very soon, I am looking forward to a family of my own. In the meantime, if you would like to send me a gift from my wish list, you can see that list at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/65U2GSOO5QZ9/ref=cm_wl_list_o_41? Animal ID: BlakeCockatiel (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello! My name is Blake, but you can call me Beautiful Blake because I really am. I am a very handsome white faced cockatiel, less than 5 years old, and a perfect specimen, if I do say so myself. I don't talk, so what? I prefer to imitate the birds I hear outside or make my own noises! I am not convinced that hands are ok, so I won't step up yet, but give a guy a break! I am just learning to eat healthy chop, as well as vegetables, almonds, greens, and things I can't remember the names of. I eat some Harrison's adult fine grind pellets, and Safflower Gold seeds. I really love Harrison's Birdy Bread, any flavor will do!!! I am ... (Read More)willing to learn new things, and want to explore, but I need someone to love me and be patient with me. Animal ID: AngelUmbrella Cockatoo

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello there! My name is Angel and I am a beautiful Umbrella Cockatoo. I came to rescue because my owner was beginning to travel and I was unable to go, so she felt it was time to find me a more stable and permanent situation. Now that I am in foster care, I have a foster Mommy who loves me lots and is working very hard to transition me from a seed based diet to a healthier diet with pellets, fresh vegetables and fruits, chop, and healthy nuts. When I first got here, I was a little scared, but every day I am getting better. I love to sit on your shoulder and if you are sitting down I will come down your arm and lean into your chest for you ... (Read More)to love me. I do say a few words like Hell-O, Pretty Bird, Grandpa and I also cry like a dog and I like to Wolf whistle. I can get loud when I want attention, but my foster Mom is working with me on that. I really hope that you will come and visit me very soon to see if maybe you would like to make me part of your family - I really love human attention and I really need your love! Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Hello! My name is Princess and I am a 6 year old Blue and Gold Macaw. I am in perfect health and on a healthy diet of chop, pellets, fresh vegetables and fruits, healthy nuts, and the occasional nutriberry as a treat. My foster Mom says that I can be shy and fairly quiet, but sometimes if I get overly excited, or there is a bunch of activity going on that I feel like I am missing out on, I can be a bit vocal. I just want to be part of what you are doing! My foster Mom is currently working with me on stepping up, but I do like for you to come over and visit with me, talk to me, and give me treats. I am Ok with other animals being in the ... (Read More)house, please just remember that I am fragile and you need to keep my environment safe. Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello there, my name is Oscar and I am big, beautiful 18 year old greenwing macaw. I came to rescue from a very loved home but my owner was very sick and could no longer care for me. These rescue people are great though! They got me a new cage and all my 'fans' donated toys to me! OK more about me - I am a bird that bonds strongly to one person and do try to bite everyone else. What can I say I'm just a one women kinda guy. Men do scare me a little., they are fine from afar and all, but I really want a female companion. I can be VERY VERY loud at times, but that's typical for a bird my size. I will scream when my foster mom leaves my sight. ... (Read More)I like having an area of my own and looking outside thru a window - it keeps me calm watching the other animals outside. I am a very picky eater, but my foster mom is working on that. I like to get my head scratched all the time, especially by my ear holes and around my head. I especially love doing this at night as this is our routine. I do lunge and pretend like I'm going to bite foster mom sometimes, which she isn't scared of, but you need to watch me and not be scared either. I will only be adopted to a lady who will be my 'person' and she must have the knowledge of birds my size and is not intimated by me. Is that person you? I was very sad at first, but since entering the rescue I have flourished with all of this out of the cage play time! I love to talk and my foster family says I am VERY entertaining. Animal ID: BabyGoffins Cockatoo

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hi! My name is baby and I am the sweetest Goffins Cockatoo ever! I love to snuggle to your neck while watching TV. I also love to just be in the middle of everything you are doing, but I am a goffins, so that is completely normal! I love almost everyone I meet. I have a mild fear of small active children and dogs. They make me very nervous. I don't bite them but I let them know I am not comfortable, so please just remember that about me and try not to put me in situations where I am uncomfortable. I love to eat almost anything, but be careful because some of your food could hurt me though - so make sure you know your food do's and don'ts ... (Read More)for parrots! I absolutely love pistachios. My favorite thing to do is dance and if your turn on music (especially classic rock) I will just start dancing. I love to say Rock and Roll and Dance. I Love to have a dance off with myself in the mirror. I also love to sit out on the back porch on my perch and listen to music (and of course dance). I am also getting to like taking showers a little bit. My foster mom bought a shower perch and I love to hang out in there with her. Did I mention that I love to dance?!     Hello there! My name is Baby and I am a beautiful 10 year old Jardine's parrot. I am a medium sized bird with a big personality. My previous parront had me for 10 years, but didn't have enough time for me any longer so I came to the Florida Parrot Rescue to find my forever family! I can say a few words like bless you, baby, baby boy, pretty boy and other things in a little robot voice that that my foster mom hasn't quite figured out yet. I whistle, make kissy noises and lots of other funny sounds. I wasn't on the best diet when I came into the rescue so my foster mom is making me try lots of healthy pellets, fresh fruit, and vegetables. I ... (Read More)love eating and I'll try just about anything. As you may have noticed, I started to pluck a few feathers on my chest. My foster mom thinks that with a healthy diet, lots of baths, and new toys to play with, that I will let them all grow back. I have a brand new play-top cage that I have a great time on. I like hanging out on top so that I can watch over everyone! Currently, I prefer to climb up and down on my own but I'm working on learning how to step up. Animal ID: YodaBlue Fronted Amazon (male)

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

My name is Yoda. I'm about 5 years old, and a handsome male Blue Fronted Amazon. I understand I was named after some famous small green Jedi knight! My foster mom says the Force is definitely with me! I came to Florida Parrot Rescue with nothing to my name. My cage had to be disposed of because it was filthy, rusty and too small. But the nice people at FPR got me a nice new cage. If you are looking for a quiet easy keeper, I'm your man. I am extremely quiet and not a screamer. As a matter of fact, I would prefer a relatively quiet household. I am the kind of guy that likes to be in the middle of things so that I can see what's going ... (Read More)on, but don't need to be cuddled. I'm just happy hanging out on the top of my cage while I watch what's going on in the house, and playing with my toys. My foster Mom leaves my cage door open a lot, and I go in and out, but don't cause any trouble. I'm really good at entertaining myself as long as I have plenty of wooden toys to shred! You might be surprised how fast I can shred a huge wooden toy! I do like to be talked to though, and I'm actually quite a good talker, and can speak both English and Spanish. If you are speaking with emphasis I really enjoy joining the conversation, invited or not, and when I get started I will keep you very entertained. I can have a whole conversation with myself. I like to say 'Hello' when the phone rings, 'Yoda!', 'You're a Good Boy', 'Hi Birdie', 'Come On', 'Yeah' 'Whatcha Doin', 'Right There', 'Whatcha Got There', 'Hello', 'Agua', 'Daddy's Home', 'Yabda Dabda Doo', bark like a dog, meow just like a cat and so many other things! However, if there is a lot of commotion or excitement like kids running around and playing I do get very loud and excited, so apartments or a place where my sounds will upset the neighbors is not a good idea. When I get excited and wound up I like to say 'Fiesta 'and 'Opa' in a very loud excited voice, along with a number of other party words I have in my vast repertoire. If I get too excited I tend to get a little fiesty, so my foster mom lets me settle down before handling me after my Fiestas. I also really enjoy sitting on my play stand outside while I get my baths, and watching all of the wild birds. I can hang by one toe from the top of my cage. I'm very athletic, so I need lots of room. In my previous home, I had not been handled in many years, so I'm a little intimidated by hands. If you get too close for comfort, I will make my Yoda growling sound to let you know not to come any closer. My Foster Mom appreciates that I give a very clear warning and back up rather than biting. I will step up when my Foster Mom wants me to, but I'm still reluctant (after all I haven't known her very long). My foster Mom says that she won't push me, and that with time I will learn to trust again. We are working on helping me trust humans and she says it's coming along pretty well. I don't mind the dogs or cats as long as you keep me safe. I eat Harrison's pellets, birdie bread, fruits, vegetables and healthy nuts. I sleep really well at night, and don't make a peep until my cage is uncovered. I would love to find a family to call my very own that is willing to be patient with me, and give me the time and space I need to show you the sweet boy I am. If you can't adopt, but would like to send me a toy to keep me busy while I wait for my forever home, please see my Amazon wishlist http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/130M6295RCVAC/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_v? Animal ID: ZeusGreenwing Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Hello! Zeus here - I'm a Greenwing Macaw about 15 years of age and I am missing my pants. I'm not too sure how long they've been gone, but hey - I'm so handsome I don't really need them. I was surrendered to Florida Parrot Rescue because my owners didn't have time for me and there were lots of other birds in the house. I liked to let them know I was in charge but no one really appreciated that. My owners told my foster mom that I didn't really like toys and didn't chew on them. I had a cage with two large bells and three perches in it when I came into rescue. Now that I'm in a nice, new LARGE cage with TOYS, I'm very happy. I can still ... (Read More)be noisy, but I love to chew all my wooden toys and even have a toy that I can preen. I've pretty much stopped plucking but I'm afraid I'm always going to be missing my pants. I'm good around dogs - in fact, I've trained them to wait from food droppings. My foster sister Lucy is always hovering - ever hopeful. I live with two other birds right now and don't try to direct their activities - probably because I'm the biggest and best bird. I have a very healthy appetite and am currently on a diet of pellets, fresh vegetables, and some fresh fruit. I also just love walnuts and brazil nuts. My foster mom makes me work for those by hiding them in foraging toys. I've been to the vet and am very healthy, other than my missing pants. I'm getting used to my foster home and am getting used to having a bath in the shower. I feel really good and look awesome when I'm clean. My foster mom is working on getting me used to an avian flight suit, so we'll see how that goes. I really need a loving home where I will be cherished and loved. Maybe you will come meet me soon so we can see if we get along? I can't wait to meet you! (Less)

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant

My name is Kai! It means beginning in Chinese. My current owner is sweet and I think she is great but I have a problem with puffing up and biting. She doesn't like that too much! Lol. As much as she's tried, my current owner cannot find the time to properly hand tame me. One thing she has taught me to do is sing and make click noises. I come with my own cage, swing, beak toy, holding trays, and a bag of my favorite seeds. I hope to find my forever home with someone who has the time and patience to hand tame me. I am a sweet bird. Just need some TLC!!! With a bit of time and work I will show you how sweet I can be!

Animal ID: PeanutWhite Capped Pionus

Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello there! My name is Peanut. I am a gorgeous White Capped Pionus and I am about 7-8 years old. I love to eat, but I am very picky. My foster family is trying to convert me from seeds onto a healthy diet of pellets, fresh vegetables, fruits, and healthy nuts. Let's just say - I am not a fan yet, but I will keep trying. I am also unsure of showers right now, but maybe with time, I will grow to love them. I do LOVE LOVE LOVE this whole toy thing! My favorite toy (which my foster Mom bought 5 of) I have destroyed so quickly that I am already out, so I need more! Shredding toys are my favorite, for sure! I like to come out of my cage and hang ... (Read More)out on the top of the door, but sometimes I decide to glide down and do a walk about. I don't mind being in a home with other animals, but I don't need to be as I tend to ignore everyone else right now, just remember that you need to keep me safe around other species of animals, especially while I am out on walkabout. It is safest to keep everyone out of the same room as me when I am exercising my little legs by walking! I am a bit timid of people - I take a while to get used to you and I do not know how to step up. I am sometimes so scared that I will flip over and scream and growl at you when approached and will sometimes bite. I do need work on handling in this way, but I really hope that maybe there is someone out there who might love me enough, and be patient enough, to adopt me and work with me on these challenges. I only like men though, they are the only people I seem drawn to at all, I will come closer to listen to them talk if they are quiet and patient, but I still do not like to be touched. In the meantime, if you want to send me a gift from my wishlist, you can go to: http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/23NDB85PLSF0V/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go_o? Pet Bird    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Birds
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant

My name is Boca! I'm about 13--still pretty young for a pionus! I love to talk, sing, laugh, and imitate, and I'm happy most of the time sitting in or on my cage being part of the group. I love to be outside on the porch as long as it's not too cold! I love head scratches and snuggling, but I'm a rescue, so sometimes I need someone who knows how to help me when I get upset and want to bite. I wasn't raised with nice humans, so I need someone who is experienced and patient and can understand my quirks. I love to communicate and be with everyone. I reflect the energy of my environment: I do well in low-key homes and can get noisy when my ... (Read More)family gets noisy! I can be very sweet, and I like other birds, but I get bullied easily and shouldn't be with dominant or jealous birds. I'm used to dogs, but I get scared if they come too close. I have a happy personality, and I'm not very active (I'm kind of clumsy)! I eat pellets and love treats like nuts, seeds, fruits, and veggies. I will be ready to adopt in July! (Less)

I came into FPR on a mostly seed diet and my foster mom is currently trying to figure out which pellets I like the best. So far, I do like Harrison's. My foster mom is also introducing me to fresh fruits and veggies, I love cauliflower! I have a clean bill of health from the FPR vet, except for a small yeast infection that I am on medication for. Animal ID: JourneyBlue & Gold Macaw

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive

Hi. My name is Journey and I am an approximately 15 yr old blue and gold macaw. They call me a boy but the doctor hasn't confirmed it. My foster mom gave me this name because I didn't have a name prior to coming here. I also never came out of my cage. Don't worry though; life isn't too shabby nowadays. I try to talk and am learning that being vocal isn't a bad thing but a way of expressing myself. I eat healthy nuts and am in the final stages of a full conversion from seed to pelleted diet. I am still a little uneasy with interacting with people but as you can see by my photos my foster mom is working on it because the world is a big and ... (Read More)scary place outside of my cage! I am also learning how to play with toys because I love shredding newspaper on the bottom of my cage! My foster mom bought me a shred ball and I love it! I am OK with dogs being around - I am curious of them. I seem to like my foster mom over my foster dad but only by a little. I am working on being handled by humans as they haven't really interacted with me that much in my life, but I get lots of almonds and fruit for doing it so I am learning to gently take it from hands while in my cage because my cage is my safe place. I am pretty quiet for a macaw but come near my house and I will scream to let my family know! No need for an industrial alarm here! I am not the bird for someone who doesn't have big parrot experience as I have not been interacted with a lot until recently. With patience and love my foster mom already sees the great potential I have bottled up inside...I'm just scared. Will you take me in as one of your own? Interested in adoption? Compatibility: Not Good with Other Birds
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! We are Brutus and Bella. I am a beautiful female Goffins Cockatoo and my best friend forever is Brutus - he is a male Red Fronted Amazon. We truly are BFF's - we were raised together for the last 17 years by the same Mommy who loves us very much and we do miss her - but we also know that we have many more years yet to come and that we need a roost to hang our hats - that is where you come in! Make sure you are aware that we are bonded and we do have to be adopted together - we can never be separated! Fortunately though, we are both VERY friendly and we love to ride on our foster Dad's shoulder (we are indiscriminate lovers - we ... (Read More)don't care if you are a boy or girl!). I am a princess and so am very spoiled, you will have to learn how to accept this about me - all I want is to be snuggled and loved - I can NEVER get too much attention. But Brutus loves attention as well and we both really enjoy being out of our cages and with humans as much as possible. We eat pellets as the main part of our diet along with fresh vegetables and some fruits and we love nuts as special treats. Overall, we are both very well behaved and I know you would love to have us in your family - but we think our foster Dad might have a very hard time letting go because we are just so special and fun to be around, lol!! So please come meet us just as soon as you can - we want to start our new life with you as quickly as possible - we have so much to do with our future family! Interested in adoption? Pet Bird

Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hello! My name is Lu. My foster Mom calls me the Lu-Man - or sometimes 'The Mean Green Terrorizer!' I am a 5 year old quaker parrot and my foster Mommy says I am very special. I had an accident with my beak that has left me with only a partial beak on one side, but I am able to get around just fine and I am eating regular pellets, chop, fresh vegetables and fruits, and healthy nuts - almonds are my favorite nuts! However, I also go crazy over Caitec Birdie Munchie Cookies and I have to have chop every day, or I will vocalize until I get it! My care is a little bit specialized though and FPR says I will only be adopted to the right ... (Read More)family. I do live in a very large aquarium which has to be cleaned every night before bedtime, rather than a regular parrot cage. I also have to go to the vet every month for a beak trim - this needs to be done by an avian vet to make sure it is done in a very specific way so that I am can still get around and eat properly. Don't worry though - my small handicap does not take away from my bite! I can be very territorial of my cage and I only like certain people. In fact, when I pick the person I trust, watch out - you better not come near, because I will defend that person from you! My chosen person enjoys shoulder time with me and a nice preen of their face and hair. I don't like hands though - even the hands of my chosen person, so I only step up in a certain way - don't worry, my foster mom can show you, it is easy. With more time, I may learn to trust your hands as long as you are very patient and loving with me. I really hope that you will come and visit with me soon. Animal ID: Crash & BoomerQuaker Parakeet

Pet Bird    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Birds
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant

Crash and Boomer are bonded to each other and must be adopted together. These two are absolutely adorable and with very clear, sweet little voices. They will talk to you and love talking to each other. They will imitate animal sounds, dog barks, cat purrs and chicken clucks. They preen each other, feed each other and protect each other. Both are in excellent health, fully feathered and always animated . Crash was a wild Quaker that sustained a permanent wing injury 5-6 years ago when he was hit by a car. We don't know Crash's age, vet estimates 7-10 years old. Crash won't come to you unless you have Boomer out first. Boomer is 4 years old, ... (Read More)previous owner purchased him as a baby to be a friend for Crash. Boomer is the tamer one and very sweet when he is away from Crash. From the cage: They will both step unto your hand if you drap a hand towel over your hand. I don't know why they are comfortable with it, but it works really good. When away from the cage they will both step up on your fingers. They don't have a preference for men or women, they will go to either. They love taking showers, will sit on the shower perch and enjoy the spray bottle or a little splash from the shower head. They are good eaters, not too picky. Sometimes they get a little competitive over the food cup. So we'll put in 2 cups one on the other side. Boomer is the one that likes human interaction. If you take him out alone, you can give him kisses and scratches. Crash doesn't let anyone touch and when they are out together, he tries to position himself between you and Boomer. Both are very good talkers and extremely intelligent. They will say goodbye when they know you're leaving and when you cover them at night, then leave the room. We have them trained to understand the word "perch" means to go inside their cage. This is a nightly routine for them, they are really good boys. Boomer is a strong flier, so he will need to get his wings clipped frequently. If you have other birds or animals, he will fly over to them which can be harmful to him. He's a little explorer. PIease Read Before Adopting a Bird in Florida
Birds can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. Exotic tropical birds such as Parrots and Cockatiels, as well as Finches, Doves, Pigeons, and other varieties, are often kept in captivity as beautiful and interesting pets. Unfortunately, many owners may not know how to care for their birds properly, while others experience life changes that may leave their pets without a suitable home. Captive birds can suffer from nutritional deficiencies, psychological stress, and many other problems when they do not receive proper care. Many wild exotic birds are endangered as a result of the international pet trade. Non-profit bird sanctuaries provide homes for some birds for whom their owners can no longer provide care. However, many more of these birds need to be adopted by committed owners who have taken the time to thoroughly understand what it takes to care for the birds. A person who is ready for the responsibility of owning a bird should seriously consider adopting one rather than buying a new one.

Parrots mimic humans but do not mimic any other kind of animal in the wild. Most captive birds are unable to find a permanent home and experience some kind of abuse or neglect in their lifetimes. The use of nonstick cookware can be extremely toxic to parrots living in the home. Parrots can die from exposure to normal household substances such as bleach fumes, perfumes, and anything sprayed from an aerosol can.
