We rescued Dark Wing a couple of months ago, and he hasn't bonded with us. He is a free spirit and not a cuddle buddy; He sings sweetly and vocalizes often; he loves dogs and follows by walking or flying after our dog crooning to him; it is very sweet. He is so cute during shower time, he loves it. He is very healthy and only eats seed. The cage and supplies come with him. He recently bit our granddaughter, therefore we have to give him up.

I am rehoming my Calico Macaw. I bought him to work with him but i just don't have the experience for him. He is xl and beautiful. Full feathered. Will need an experiacned macaw owner. I was told he is friendly but has his moments where he will test you. Maybe he just knows i'm intimidated by him. I admit i got in over my head. I truly believe with the right owner he would be a great bird. He will take treats from me and I pet him through the cage. To be honest I am scared to let him out. He has been out a few times and just walked around and climbed up on stuff. He stepped up one time. I am intimidated by his size. I bought him bc I've always wanted a macaw but I soon realize a bird his size just isn't for me.He is very smart. Picks things up quickly. Asking $1000 WITH OR WITHOUT CAGE FIRM. Lexington NC.. **Please serious inquires only.. Please speak to whom ever you need to before contacting me. I will not give him away for free. Please do not comment unless you have the fee and want to meet him or have questions about him.** I have had SO many people waste my time.. No trades. Shipping is available if set up and paid by the adopter.. Only through uship.com due to the heat.. **He is now living on our covered porch. Needs a home asap.** (Less)

I am a Wildlife Rehabilitator, but work with raptors. I received a call from someone trying to get rid of a bird. When I told him that I only work with wild birds, he said that he would just let his bird go outside and fly away. I went ahead and took the bird to keep her/him from dying outside. Bird is very vocal; with many types of whistles and calls. Apparently not trained to hand yet. I am sorry that I can't tell you any more about her, but I will keep updating this post as I learn more. Thanks for looking.

This is Bodie. I have had Bodie for 4 years. I bought him from a woman who got him for free, but knowing what other animals had gone through under her care I found it a mission to get him out of there. She told me I could have him for 300 bucks so I gave it to her and got him out of there! When I first got him, he was always out of his cage from the second I woke up till I went to bed. I had to move into my brothers 2 years ago, and since then he rarely gets out of his cage due to my brother being scared of him and this has caused him to be sad and at times angry(understandably) I feel so very bad for him due to this and do not think its fair for him to be constantly caged as he loves to be around people and to fly.A good home Is a MUST, along with Vet records that you have previously or currently own a bird. I ask for this for two reasons: #1 is by having vet records I will know you can afford to PROPERLY care for him,#2, I will know that you have prior knowledge with birds, particularly Cockatoos. I just truly want him to go to a good home and I must be confidant that he will be going to a good, LOVING home! A Home check is also a must! Thank you! (Less)

We have a beautiful 12-year-old, male blue and gold macaw that we are heartbroken to have to rehome due to an unexpected change in living circumstances. He is fully hand-tame and very loving, doesn't bite, and he says a number of words and phrases. He prefers men to women, so while it is possible for him to be cared for by a woman, we would strongly prefer to find him a home where his primary caregiver would be male. As we have had to relocate unexpectedly, he is currently being cared for by our family in North Carolina. The sudden change in environment (and the loss of time with my husband, to whom he is very attached), has led him to pluck out some of his feathers, while he has been undergoing his spring molt. As a result, he is missing feathers in many places and has pin feathers on his head and neck. We wanted to be fully open about this so you would understand that he is already under stress. It will be a process to help him adjust to a new family and environment, and it will take time and specialized care to help him re-gain all his feathers and prevent him from plucking any more. Please tell us a bit about yourself and your experience with macaws or other large parrots. Because he is already an adult, he needs someone who fully understands the care that macaws require and can help him adjust to a new environment. With him, we will give you his large cage with toys/food bowls, and a large quantity of his food. We are asking a re-homing fee of $500. More than anything, we want to make sure that we can find him a 'forever home' with a patient and experienced parrot owner. Thank you! (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Bird in North Carolina|
Birds can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Exotic tropical birds such as Parrots and Cockatiels, as well as Finches, Doves, Pigeons, and other varieties, are often kept in captivity as beautiful and interesting pets. Unfortunately, many owners may not know how to care for their birds properly, while others experience life changes that may leave their pets without a suitable home. Captive birds can suffer from nutritional deficiencies, psychological stress, and many other problems when they do not receive proper care. Many wild exotic birds are endangered as a result of the international pet trade. Non-profit bird sanctuaries provide homes for some birds for whom their owners can no longer provide care. However, many more of these birds need to be adopted by committed owners who have taken the time to thoroughly understand what it takes to care for the birds. A person who is ready for the responsibility of owning a bird should seriously consider adopting one rather than buying a new one.
