We recently purchased a farm that has five peacocks. There are three adult males and two adult females. Looking for a good home that will be able to adopt all five together.

He is an attention hog - happiest when on a shoulder, but becomes territorial if anyone else gets close while he 'holds you' He is an escape artist and is very attached to his old dome topped wrought iron cage (I hate it - but he freaks out when I attempt to place him at another cage) He can scream, but is relatively quiet unless he 'needs' something (RIGHT NOW) please have Too experience if interested, they are not the right bird for just anyone - he does not like some men, but adores others (I can't figure out the triggers) my young children are able to hold him, his problem is arguing when it's time to return to his cage - never a problem getting him out. Addy was rescued on behalf of a friend who found an ad for her on craigslist after her owner passed away. She was badly plucked and in a cage much too small for her species. She steps up and is thrilled to perch on your shoulder or a stand (the photo shows her on the rung of a ladder while I was looking for something in the garage) she gives kisses and LOVES to mimick all sorts of household sounds. If you are looking for a first large bird and can see inner beauty beyond a plucked belly (her underwing feathers are rebudding nicely and in time her belly may or may not regrow). She does speak but not english, I think maybe spanish? She does like to visit other cages and due to her submissive nature, she should be kept apart from other birds unless they are visitor friendly :) She does not come with cage - but I can include one of my spares for an additional $50. |PIease Read Before Adopting a Bird in Pennsylvania|
Birds can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. Exotic tropical birds such as Parrots and Cockatiels, as well as Finches, Doves, Pigeons, and other varieties, are often kept in captivity as beautiful and interesting pets. Unfortunately, many owners may not know how to care for their birds properly, while others experience life changes that may leave their pets without a suitable home. Captive birds can suffer from nutritional deficiencies, psychological stress, and many other problems when they do not receive proper care. Many wild exotic birds are endangered as a result of the international pet trade. Non-profit bird sanctuaries provide homes for some birds for whom their owners can no longer provide care. However, many more of these birds need to be adopted by committed owners who have taken the time to thoroughly understand what it takes to care for the birds. A person who is ready for the responsibility of owning a bird should seriously consider adopting one rather than buying a new one.
