Rescue Me ID: 16-06-21-00241Green Cheek Conure (female)
I have a 2 year old female Green Cheek Conure with cage who needs rehoming. She is in perfect health and in full feather. She receives regular visits to the Avian Vet for talon, beak, flight feather trimmings and routine periodic checks. She is a very social parrot who enjoys spending time with me and dancing to music. She will dance when she hears any song. Lol. She has also begun to talk. Conure's have a little bit of a 'gravily' voice, but she is easily understood. Her first word was 'stop.' (I think because she hears us saying that to the dogs when they bark a lot. lol). I feed her Safflower, Nutraberries, fresh fruits, veggies and nuts. I let her cage door open for most of the day and allow her to go in and out as she pleases. She loves to just sit on her outside perch and play on the play gym at the top of her cage. She is an adorable, sweet, parrot with a fantastic personality and it absolutely breaks my heart to have to rehome her, but I am a rescuer and have too many animals. I will not rehome her to just anyone who wants to get a 'bird' and then forget about it. You must have knowledge of parrots and experience. She has had a wonderful life with me since she was a hatchling and I want to make sure she has the same with whoever adopts her. She comes with a big cage filled with toys, a swing, different sizes/textured perches, food/water dishes, etc. She must go with her cage. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-09-00111Cockatiel (male)
We are looking to re-home our two rescue birds: Brody is about 10 (on the left) and Hannah is about 8 (on the right). They are both in separate cages and were that way from their previous owner. I do not know how they would do together or with other birds, since they have been in separate cages from the time we got them. Despite the love and care we have given them, both birds are still afraid of humans and do not like to be handled and can bite. They need an owner that has experience with handling and taming birds. Brody likes to whistle and copy sounds. Hannah is a bit distant. They are both afraid of most toys and too much stimulation, but have gotten used to a few toys in their cages. The birds are on a pellet diet. Brody dislikes fresh food, and Hannah plays with it. Both birds come with their cages and all supplies. We are looking for someone with experience and love that can help these two beautiful cockatiels feel safe in the world. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Bird in Pennsylvania
Birds can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. Exotic tropical birds such as Parrots and Cockatiels, as well as Finches, Doves, Pigeons, and other varieties, are often kept in captivity as beautiful and interesting pets. Unfortunately, many owners may not know how to care for their birds properly, while others experience life changes that may leave their pets without a suitable home. Captive birds can suffer from nutritional deficiencies, psychological stress, and many other problems when they do not receive proper care. Many wild exotic birds are endangered as a result of the international pet trade. Non-profit bird sanctuaries provide homes for some birds for whom their owners can no longer provide care. However, many more of these birds need to be adopted by committed owners who have taken the time to thoroughly understand what it takes to care for the birds. A person who is ready for the responsibility of owning a bird should seriously consider adopting one rather than buying a new one.
